Happiness is an inside job

Do you look at happiness as if it’s something elusive and only available to some?

Do you believe you have to chase it and grab it with both hands?

Is it possible to be happy all the time?

How often do you actually feel happy?

Is it something you can create?

Are you trying to convince yourself that life will be better after you complete some project or other .. that doing whatever it is will make you happy or give you a purpose?

Do you believe you need a partner to complete you?

Have you bought into the myth that having tons of money and things makes you happy?

Are you convinced you’ll be happy as a lark if you lose 14lbs?

Where did you learn those things … you know, that, sometime in the future real life will begin and everything will be better?

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our partner gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice holiday, when we retire.

The truth is, there’s no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Life will always be present you with challenges and changes it’s a given. The only thing guaranteed in life is change. Life embraces changes, envelopes them, flows around them, under them and through them.

Happiness is now .. where you are, in this moment .. doing what you are doing without worrying about the outcome .. or trying to get away from something.

Here are five things to give up to help you raise your happiness vibration

1. Give up your need to be right.

Whenever you feel the urge to argue the toss about who’s right  ask yourself “Do I want to be right or would I rather be kind?” How important is proving the point anyway?

2. Give up on blame

Give up on your need to blame others for what you feel has been done wrong to you. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life.

3. Give up moaning, groaning, gossiping and criticising

More often than not complaining is a sign of feelings like: “I’m scared, I feel overwhelmed, don’t feel good enough, feat of being inadequate and I might fail”.

4. Give you your need to impress

Stop trying so hard to be something you’re not just to make others like you or to fit in.  When you stop trying so hard to be something you’re not, when you drop your masks and embrace the real you, people will be drawn to you as if by magic.

5. Give up living up, or down, to other people’s expectations

So many people ignore their inner voice, that inner knowing. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people’s expectations they forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need….and eventually they forget about themselves

Happiness is the experience of living Life, fully in this moment and exploring all that this moment has to offer.

You can experience happiness when you decide that, in this moment, there is no better time to be happy and that means accepting yourself just the way you are ..

Happiness is a journey – not a destination. Each journey starts with a single step .. and continues one step at a time .
