Your Choices Determine your Destiny
I like to think of myself as a go with the flow kind of girl, very flexible and easy going with what’s happening around me but what I do know is that much as I love the spur of the moment feeling routines can reap huge rewards.
If you do something on a regular basis whatever it is can’t help but become better – or worse – whichever way you look at it. Take for instance, if you constantly berate yourself that’s what you’ll become, and yet if you turn it on it’s head, up the anti and start finding good things to say about yourself on a daily basis then the reverse becomes true – you see – it’s like I keep saying – what you focus on expands – what you think about you bring about.
If only ..
If only I had just organized myself a bit better – you know, scheduling in a short weekly slot, I wouldn’t have been sitting on my office floor for what seemed like endless hours, sorting and surrounded by tatty receipts, trying to recall which fitted in where. It would make life so much easier and I wouldn’t be forced into this inevitable situation. Hopefully at long last I’ve learned the lesson – or maybe it would make more sense to get someone else to do it for me next year because to my mind sometimes delegation makes perfect sense and it’s good to involve other people too.
Your Choices determine your destiny
You can drift through life, or decide to be and do something different – like it or not your destiny is determined by your choices. Everything is a choice, even doing nothing is a choice! And actually it can be quite comforting to follow a process. Making small deliberate steps, paying attention to the details and being methodical leads you where you want to go more easily and quickly than untangling the web of disorganization.
Remember, Change and Growth is personal, focused and intentional, it’s not just about standing on the sidelines and watching. When it boils down to it life is about the game of ONE. The focus is on YOU and how you play. The choices you make and your own actions determine how the game plays out. But that’s not to say we can or would always want to do things alone. You can find thoughts on being alone HERE
Get involved
I heard a little story that reminds me of how things sometimes go when other people are involved and there’s no organization:
There were four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important task to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry as it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody would do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
Give others a chance
In life the path of least resistance is often not to be involved and yet without involvement there is no connection. In truth we all crave connection but because of past hurts many of us lock ourselves away in our own private prisons through lack of belief in our own abilities or value and shy away from getting involved. If jumping in is daunting maybe leaving a door slightly ajar and allowing others to tip toe into your life could brings about new beliefs and feelings. What we often miss is that we are not alone in feeling this way. By allowing other people access to us, our time, our skills, our energy, we open the doorway for them to believe in themselves too. Perhaps what I’m saying here is through participation not procrastination possibilities and potential can emerge. Give yourself and others a chance, get involved in all things that are important in your life.
